The Leadership Team for the Partners User Group

The Partners Steering Committee is the leadership team for the Partners User Group. The Steering Committee provides candid communication and feedback to Teradata senior management on issues relating to Teradata and data warehousing. Members communicate via monthly conference calls and attend three face-to-face planning sessions per year. The Steering Committee is instrumental in planning, organizing, and executing the world-class annual Teradata PARTNERS User Group Conference & Expo.

Matthew Laney is the Manager of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence for Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. He has more than 30 years of retail experience, with 10 years of experience in Teradata Data Warehousing. Matthew has held various roles throughout the Winn-Dixie organization and has worked with the company’s Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) since its inception. In 2005, he transferred from the business side of the organization to I.T. to continue to guide the development of the EDW. He has since served as Manager of Business Intelligence and now manages the Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence and Technical Resource teams. The companies Data Warehouse supports over 5,000 users in their corporate offices, regional facilities and retail locations.

Mark Cooper has worked with the Information Superhub project—the FedEx enterprise data warehouse—since its inception in 1994. The system migrated through three different hardware and database platforms (each one successful in enabling increased business value), most recently using Teradata (since 1999). Today, he primarily handles the technical direction of the Information Superhub, including architecture, planning, design, and implementation. Cooper holds an MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science (with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence) from UCLA, as well as a BS in Computer Science from Duke University.

Kathy Koontz is Associate Vice President, Customer Information Management within the Customer Analytics group. She has responsibility for bringing together customer information, marketing automation, advanced analytics and change management activities to continuously improve customer information management capabilities, enable the use of analytics to increase the value and size of the customer portfolio and deliver actionable insights to customer facing associates. She has more than 10 years experience identifying opportunities, designing business processes and architecting solutions to more effectively capture customer information and utilize advanced analytics to provide insights for delivery through Marketing and Operational contact points.

Susan is the Director of the Information Management and Business Insights program within the Pharmaceutical Segment, Information Technology at Cardinal Health. Susan is a strategic, visionary leader that embraces a changing business culture and has over 15 years in leadership in the corporate, public and consulting sectors, and over 20 years of technical experience. Additionally, she is a member of TechColumbus and Women’s Initiative Network (WIN). Her career and experiences have placed her into companies and situations where change and innovation were needed.

Susan’s current responsibilities include spearheading the cross-organizational strategic initiatives around better leveraging information as an asset for one of the two segments within Cardinal Health. Susan is responsible for leading several teams in support of reporting, master data management, data discovery labs and information as an asset initiatives. Susan’s teams execute against a multi-year strategy and roadmap comprised of five key areas. Susan is a pioneer for change and operational improvements, all the while leveraging investments to drive additional value, faster and more accurate decision making and broader business discovery through reporting, speed to insights and analytics.

Betsy Burge is the Director of Data Warehouse Business Content at WellPoint. Betsy has over 15 years experience in data warehousing in the healthcare industry. Her experience covers a wide array of responsibilities including management of customer service, development, and production support for various data warehouse environments. Betsy currently oversees a team responsible for new sourcing of data into WellPoint’s enterprise data warehouse. Her team partners with IT through the full lifecycle of the project from gathering requirements all the way through to delivery. Betsy also plays a key role in data governance and decision making on standards and setting direction related to the enterprise warehouse.

As vice president and general manager of Teradata Research and Development, Gnau is responsible for all research, development, and sales support activities related to Teradata warehouse solutions. Gnau's organization includes more than 1,000 employees in San Diego, Los Angeles, Raleigh, Toronto, and other locations overseas.

Previously, Gnau was vice president of product strategy and portfolio management for Teradata, with the task of driving Teradata's continued investments in technology. Gnau and his team worked with customers, prospects, industry analysts, and academia to understand the market and continue refinement of Teradata's technology vision to meet the unique needs of the world's leading active data warehouse customers.

Kathy Hastings joins us from Anheuser Busch where she was provided support for the sales and marketing organizations, created a Corporate Strategic Meetings Management Program, and managed the company's Wholesales Panel. Prior to that, Kathy worked in various event management roles, including Executive Manager of Conference Services at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. Kathy's industry accreditations include Certified Meeting Planning and a Certified Meeting Manager.

Rudolf Holzapfel has more than thirty years of experience in the whole spectrum of IT. For nearly ten years he has worked with Metro, one of the largest retailers in the world. He is responsible for the IT-production and systems administration across all platforms and database systems including OS administration, capacity planning, systems integration, problem management, and performance management for the Teradata data warehouse systems since the first installation in 1997.

In addition, he oversees a number of operational units including Education and Alliances. In his current role, McDonald is a member of the Teradata leadership team reporting to Mike Koehler, president and chief executive officer of Teradata.

Erin Redshaw is the Senior Manager of ETL at Loblaw Companies Limited (LCL) and manages a team of ETL Developers responsible for the development, performance, availability, and successful rollouts for the legacy EDW ETL environments. She also manages the SAP ETL Development and testing teams on the multi-phase SAP project at LCL. Erin has been working with Teradata and several applications since 1999. She is a former member of the Service Focus Team where she was Chairperson, and is also a Teradata Certified Master.

An experienced event management and marketing professional, Rebecca Salsbury is responsible for planning and successful implementation of the Teradata PARTNERS Conference. Rebecca plays a key role in managing conference content and conducting event analysis. Prior to joining the Partners Steering Committee in 2003, Rebecca managed the global Executive Briefing Center for Teradata and NCR where she collaborated with sales teams to brief executives in Fortune 500 companies, gaining unique perspective on organizational structures and operations. She was also program manager for the launch of Teradata University Network, a premier digital resource for academics worldwide.
