The Service Focus Team is a committee of the Partners User Group that works closely with Teradata on issues related to support services and other areas that fall beyond the scope of product enhancements. Members represent the concerns of Teradata customers by serving as catalysts for service improvements, providing ongoing feedback to Teradata and the Partners Steering Committee.

Teradata customers can request additional support by submitting a Service Focus Statement. The Service Focus Team either approves or rejects the submitted statement, based on whether or not the Service Focus Team can help the customer. If the Service Focus Team accepts a Service Focus Statement, the team works with the customer to resolve the critical issues.
To serve as a conduit to Teradata regarding service-related issues for Teradata customers by seeking objective solutions to their concerns.
The scope of the SFT's responsibilities are service-related areas that include, but may not be limited to, the following: Local/Remote Support, Hardware/Software Quality, Professional Services, Product Management, Sales Support, Customer Training, Documentation, Product Ordering, and other areas deemed appropriate by the Partners Steering Committee.
Kiki Sanchez has been working with Teradata since 1998. Over that time he has been instrumental in the development and growth of the award-winning Enterprise Data warehouse at Continental Airlines now the new United Airlines. The United EDW supports strategic and tactical queries as well as various real-time loads/ADW applications. He is a Teradata Certified Master in V2R5 and has been a member of the Service Focus Team since 2004.
David Belcher joined BA in 1989 as a PL/1 programmer working with IMS and DB2. In 1992, he joined the central DBA team and worked on IMS and DB2 before being trained in Teradata in 1994 and Oracle in 1999. Since 1999 he has been the lead Teradata DBA and has led the Teradata DBA team since 2001. He is involved with Teradata upgrade projects, security design, change management, and performance work, as well as being the main technical liaison with Teradata.
As supervisor of Ford Motor Company's Teradata Infrastructure, Heidi is responsible for 7x24 Operations Support. Their objective is 99.99% availability for thirty applications on twenty-eight nodes. Applications supported include financial, marketing and manufacturing. Responsibilities cover every aspect of the infrastructure including DBMS upgrades, hardware consolidations, patch upgrades, disaster recovery, interfacing with MVS software, network teams and application development teams. They facilitate weekly Teradata Consumption Review Board meetings that review system performance. Reports contain information at a system level (tactical and strategic canary query performance and CPU, Disk I/O, disk usage capacity trends) and at an application level (TDQM restriction violations, CPU usage and Disk I/O).
Joanne Erceg is the Team Leader and Principal Performance Analyst for eBay Analytics Infrastructure Services Operations group for Teradata Data Warehouse. Before joining eBay in 2008, she was with Teradata/NCR for 37 years, and is best known as the principal author of Best Practices for Teradata Performance Management and manager of the Performance Center of Excellence for Teradata Global Support. Now focusing on how to take field best practices to the next level in her role at eBay, she continues to work performance areas but has expanded into other areas such as security and physical data architecture.
Philip Foutty is a Database Admin Advisor on the Information Management team at WellPoint Inc. Phil focuses mainly on System Performance, Workload Management, Viewpoint Administration and Capacity Planning for six Teradata servers. Phil has been working with Teradata and Data Warehousing for a little over 7 years and has been a Certified Teradata Master for 4 years. Phil has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information System with a specialization in Database Management and a Master’s Degree in Information Systems Management.
As global head of the Teradata DBA team at Morgan Stanley, Jeanette is heavily involved in leading the current expansion of Teradata which supports the Morgan Stanley institutional business and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (currently 16 warehouses). Her responsibilities include management of a 24x7 Database Administration/Engineering team. She is the lead integration manager for the Teradata product, and her team manages all aspects of the support model, along with core DBA functions, owns the core relationship with Teradata, and drives all metrics for the product. She is heavily involved in the architecture and infrastructure strategy, in alignment with her overall IT strategy. She drives change across the organization to ensure overall consistency in how the product is managed and supported and also provides input into the overall sourcing strategy and technological perspective to support “make or buy” decisions.
Guy Kerr has been working in IT Financial Services industry for 19 years. Since starting with St.George Bank (SGB) in 2002 he has held several roles including Solution Designer, System Manager, Data Warehouse Manager and currently Application Service Manager of the Group Data Warehouse (GDW) for Westpac Banking Corporation (WBC) (SGB and WBC merged in 2008). Guy has been instrumental in maintaining and growing the SGB GDW framework to allow rapid development across both the bank’s mainframe and DataStage environments. He currently manages a team of 120 people and responsible for both support and delivery of the 3 data warehouses within the WBC Group. Guy and his team were the first global customer to implement TD12 in production, and the 6th global customer, and 1st APAC customer, to implement in production TD13.10.
Carl Martin is an IT Engineering Project Manager on the Large Systems & Messaging Engineering team at Lowe’s Companies, Inc. Carl has over thirty years of information technology experience and has been working with Teradata since 1998. Carl is responsible for the Teradata Platform and manages a team of Teradata DBAs and Database System Programmers. He is accountable for the productivity of the staff and quality of the projects assigned to them. Carl’s past Teradata experience includes the roles of ETL developer and Teradata DBA. He has been a board member of the Southeast Teradata User Group for five years, and became a member of the Service Focus team in December 2010.
Evie Pauze has an extensive background working on the Teradata platform. She started her career in 1988 working in the Telecommunications industry as an Enterprise Architect in the design and support of four massive systems. She joined the Casino Industry as an IT Manager for Penn National Gaming (formally known as Argosy Casinos). In her current role, she is the Lead Database Engineer at Caesar’s Entertainment supporting the Teradata and other various platforms. Evie has been with Caesar's Entertainment for 7 years.
Shelley Perrior has over twenty years of experience in a broad spectrum of financial, retail, and insurance fields, including sixteen years as a DBA with DB2, Oracle and Teradata. Shelley has worked with Teradata since 1998 and is a certified Teradata Master. Prior to joining Loblaw Companies Limited, she was involved with the implementation on Teradata of the real time Fraud Control application and a new Enterprise Data Warehouse. Shelley currently manages the Teradata environment at Loblaw.
Larry Pitkeathly is a Data Warehouse Specialist with the Enterprise Data Management team at Royal Bank of Canada. Larry has worked in application development and support for thirteen years and has been a Teradata Database Administrator with RBC, Canada's largest dual active client-facing data warehouse, for the past six years. Larry's responsibilities include database design, performance monitoring and tuning, hardware and software integration, security administration, and third-party software support.
Kim Poley has experience in Teradata dating back to 2001 in the financial services and healthcare industries. Kim has joined OptumInsight, a subsidiary of United Healthcare, to help build a Teradata Unified Data Warehouse. A Teradata Certified Professional, Kim has built several EDW’s from the ground up and he has worn many hats with positions as both application and system DBA. He has spoken at Partner’s and local TUGs on subjects such as TASM, workload management strategies and capacity planning approaches for driving value out of Teradata infrastructure. Kim’s role at OptumInsight includes training and mentoring DBAs new to Teradata, building best practices and system responsibility for the enterprise data warehouse.
Kyle Prescott currently serves as a Database Administrator in Unum's Data Strategies organization. Kyle has in excess of fifteen years of experience in IT and has been working with Teradata systems since joining Unum in 1999. His primary responsibilities include capacity planning, performance monitoring/tuning, database/system administration, and integration of Unum's Enterprise Data Warehouse. Prior to joining Unum, Kyle was responsible for development and management for other large relational databases as an Advanced Systems Engineer at Electronic Data Systems in Plano, Texas. Kyle joined the Service Focus Team in 2000 and is a Teradata Certified Master.
Mike Simek has over twelve years experience in IT ranging from Midrange to Mainframe. He has been working on Teradata Systems for the past seven years and is the Operations Platform Specialist for AT&T. Responsibilities include OS administration, capacity planning, project management, systems integration, problem management, third-party software support, and performance improvement recommendations. Mike oversees nine Teradata instances ranging from a 2 node system to a large 314 node co-existence system which includes a backup solution consisting of seventy-five media servers. Recently, the scope of Mike's responsibilities has intensified on Data Center consolidation and Teradata platform consolidation.
Bruce Watterson has over twelve years experience supporting large Teradata systems and currently is the Senior Technical Manager - Systems Engineer - Architecture & Analysis for the Bank of America. Bruce has supported Teradata systems ranging from a 2 amp 3600 to a 312 co-existence node system at a large telecommunications company. He is responsible for database and OS administration, capacity planning, systems integration, problem management, and performance management. Bruce became a member of the Service Focus Team in September of 1996 and has served as Chairman of this committee.
Jeff is the Area Director for West Central Region for Americas Field Operations. He is responsible for managing Business Critical customer experience within 18 state region, as it relates to Field Operations, Account Management, Change Control and Site Management. Amos has been part of the Teradata team since January 2007 but has more than 30 years of experience in IT services, IT management and development, Account Management, and held various senior management appointments in this business sector with both Domestic and International assignments. Previously, Amos was Vice President of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc where he had overall responsibility for the delivery of Field Support and Computer Operations. He held various Senior Management roles throughout his 26 year career with Wal-mart.
Jerry Blevins has over twenty-five years of IT service & support management experience with Teradata and was named the Director of the Teradata Americas Regional Support Center in March, 2006. He has performed a variety of roles including management of Software Services Centers, Global Support Centers, Worldwide Remote Services, Customer Care Centers, Six Sigma Services, and Business Management Services. His current responsibilities include the Teradata Americas Care Center, Regional Technical Specialists, Installation and Upgrade Management, and the Incident Management Specialists. Blevins has a Bachelors of Business Administration and recently became a member of the Service Focus Team in August, 2006.
Jean Cline has more than fifteen years of management experience in the online information publishing industry. Since joining Teradata, she has led several Teradata Quality and Customer Services initiatives. Most recently, she led the Teradata Global Support Center SCP (Support Center Practices) Certification efforts. Cline has a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
Randy Eskridge has over 25 years of industry experience. He is responsible for the server technology, product packaging, power systems, regulatory compliance and engineering field support for Teradata hardware platforms. Randy began his career at Teradata in 1991 as a designer in the Server Management organization and was responsible for the embedded management processors of the 5100 through 5250 products. In 1998 he became responsible for server technology used in Teradata products. Since 2004 Randy has been manager of HW platform engineering. Randy has a BS in Computer Engineering from University of California San Diego.
Tony Nevarez is the Senior Program Manager responsible for all serviceability aspects of all current and future Teradata HW and SW products. Nevarez has been in this role since July 2001, and has been with Teradata for nineteen years. During this time, his focus has been on product realization and development, where he has had various roles in development, performance assurance, and technical sales support. Nevarez has project-, product-, and program-managed several global programs from concept through discontinuation.
Hatsue Ogo is the APJ Regional Operation Manager in the Teradata Global Support Center responsible for all product and service related issues in the region. She has fifteen years experience with Teradata, originally started in NCR Japan by covering all database issues, moved to NCR in San Diego in 2001 mainly to focus on the DBS area and then started sustaining works in Engineering.
