Teradata Partners User Group

Tom Jung has been a Teradata customer since 1995. During this time, he has been in a number of roles: Business user, DW helpdesk analyst, DBA, and is currently the manager for the DBA team, managing 200 Terabytes across 90 nodes. Tom’s responsibilities include managing a team of 15 Teradata DBAs, system management, capacity planning, and utilization reporting. He was the 88th Teradata Certified Master and has been a member of the Midwest Teradata User Group for 10 years, where he’s a frequent presenter on technical topics. Tom’s been a loyal attendee and presenter at the PARTNERS Conference and led several highly successful beta programs between Teradata and WellPoint (most notably TASM and Viewpoint).

Paul Longhurst has been working since 1993 in the IT industry with deep experience in the design, development, and implementation of business intelligence environments, customer care, and billing systems. Paul has worked in various technical leadership roles for both domestic and international companies on large system projects spanning the wireless, cable and e-commerce industries. Paul is currently responsible for the ongoing development and operations of an active enterprise data warehouse supporting multiple lines of business for Overstock.com.

Chet Aitken has twenty-nine years of information technology experience and has been working with Teradata since 1990. His Teradata experience has been primarily in the retail sector from multiple perspectives of customer, vendor, and consultant. He is currently the Manager Business Solutions Development: Business Intelligence for the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), Canada's oldest and largest retailer. He has been with HBC since 2002 and has been responsible for the design and implementation of the enterprise data warehouse, a near real-time fraud application, and a BI reporting solution. He also has a strong background in performance tuning and application development and is a Teradata Certified Master.

Clay Barrineau has worked for 14 years helping architect, develop, and deploy database applications and BI reporting solutions. 13 of these years were spent within the Coca-Cola System (both TCCC and CCE) working as a developer and Application DBA. In Sept of 2009, Clay started working with The Home Depot as a Teradata Architect.

Art Brown is currently a Lead Data Warehouse Architect at Verizon Wireless and has primary responsibilities in the areas of warehouse design, ETL development, performance tuning and workload management. He has over 24 years IT experience most of which has been in the Telecom industry. His Teradata experience dates back to 1993 on the DBC 1012 and extends to current system configurations and software releases. Art's past data warehousing experience includes the roles of ETL Developer, data modeler, and Teradata DBA. Art joined the Product Advisory Council in 2010 and is also a Certified Teradata Master.

Tom Campbell has twenty-nine years of information technology experience and has been working with Teradata since 1988. He has designed and implemented both decision support and real time operational systems utilizing Teradata in the retail, hospitality and staffing industries. His responsibilities currently include leading the globalization of Kelly Services data warehouse and business intelligence initiatives. He received his Teradata Masters certification in 2004.

Michelle Fadel has been responsible for the design and implementation of the enterprise data warehouse for Delta Air Lines since 1992. She has been instrumental in the growth of the warehouse from a DBC1012 with 100 gigabytes and fifty users to the multi-terabyte, 5,000-plus user system today. Fadel has been on the Product Advisory Council since 2000, and is a former member of the PARTNERS Steering Committee.

Tom Fastner is currently the Lead Architect for eBay's Analytic systems, working on same of the the largest Teradata systems since 2008. Prior coming to eBay, Tom worked for 11 years in various positions in Professional Services and Sales for Teradata in Germany and the USA. He was the lead architect for the first Teradata Dual Active implementation, and actively involved in several Teradata offerings around Dual Active, Workload Management, System Management, and Training.

Tom holds a Master Degree in Computer Science from the Technical University Munich, Germany and is a Teradata Certified Master since 2001. He holds one US patent.

Since 1986, Ruth Fenwick has worked in a broad spectrum of financial, retail, and insurance fields, fourteen of these years as a DBA. She currently manages the Teradata DBAs with the Royal Bank of Canada, Canada's largest data warehouse. Having worked with Teradata since 1997, Fenwick achieved Teradata Master status, and has a strong background in application development and performance tuning. RBC has implemented an enterprise data warehouse across its multiple divisions. The data warehouse mandate includes logical and physical database design and implementation, business intelligence application development and rollout, and enterprise-wide information and reporting applications.

Chad Meley has over 15 years experience leading business intelligence organizations within Fortune 500 companies. While at FedEx, he was awarded the Best Practices Award for Important Applications of Data Warehousing from The Data Warehouse Institute, and The Direct Marketing Association’s Marketing Excellence Award for pioneering work in Analytical CRM. He also worked at Teradata as a Director in the CRM Division, and later assumed various data warehousing leadership roles at Dell. He currently is the Director of Business Intelligence at Electronic Arts.

Cameron Morrison II has been working with various database products for almost fifteen years. He has been an integral part in the building of the Enterprise Data Warehouse at Intel, and has assisted in the development and design of complex transformation solutions and training of the developers. He also develops BKM's and whitepapers on optimization and development techniques and providing tools for analyzing and evaluating ETL and BI performance. Cameron is also responsible for strategic efforts driving ETL optimization.

Linda Richardson has over 20 years IT experience and has worked on Teradata systems since 1997. During that time in various roles including data modeler, application designer and developer, and database administrator, Linda has been instrumental in the implementation and growth of the Norfolk Southern Enterprise Data Warehouse. Linda received her Teradata Master Certification in 2008.

Joerg Thienenkamp has been a member of the Data Warehouse development team at Metro Group from the start of a harmonized and standardized Data Warehouse project in 2002. He accompanied the project through an accelerated roll-out into 32 countries, which led to the biggest Data Warehouse installation in European retail. During that time Joerg was responsible for ETL development, Data Modelling and performance optimization for ETL jobs and MicroStrategy Reports. As a consequence of this he gathered experience and deep knowledge of Teradata Systems.

Since 1989, Ian Willson has been designing leading-edge Teradata systems at 3 companies, most recently as a Technical Fellow for Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence at The Boeing Company. Ian is a former researcher and aviation software entrepreneur, who created the first consumer air travel software and Travel$ense, the industry standard for business travel analytics. His current focus at Boeing is the Common Data Warehouse being developed for the new 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Ian leads the database and technical architecture teams to integrate 50 internal and external authoring systems to create an integrated repository for all aspects of Boeing's new aircraft programs, from conception through delivery and support. Previously Ian designed Boeing's first active data warehouse, improved its reporting efficiency 9,700% and has been involved in the creation or improvement of 7 Teradata applications at Boeing since 1999.

Tim Zeitter has been working with Teradata systems since 1991. His responsibilities include development and support of Meijer's 20-node 5350 enterprise-wide data warehouse and deployment of decision support technology for enterprise-wide information and reporting applications.

Donna began working with Teradata in 1987 with most of her experience on large Teradata systems. For the last few years, she has focused entirely on performance measurement tuning, and workload management for a number of customers. She is currently the Director of the America’s Professional Services, Performance and Workload Management Center of Expertise.

Rich Charucki has been in the information systems field since 1971. In 1986, Charucki became an early Teradata customer while working for a major financial institution on Wall St. In 1991, he joined Teradata and has been designing, implementing and supporting data warehouses in the Retailing, Insurance and Telecommunication industries. He currently holds the position of Engineering Fellow in the Teradata database development organization and is a Teradata Certified Master.

Gene-o has worked the past 20 years for Teradata holding a wide variety of technical and management positions. His varied engineering management roles include Platform, Viewpoint, Server management / AWS, DBS Management Utilities, and Teradata Performance Group. Gene-o held multiple non-engineering management roles including Customer Benchmark Center, Global Sales Support, Tools, and System Integration Test. He last worked as a BYNET developer and architect during the Teradata-NCR Joint Development Opportunity at Torrey Pines in the early 1990's. Gene-o is currently the director for Teradata's America's CS Critical Support office. He hold 2 US patents.

Patsy Martin has held a variety of positions within Teradata Product and Program management since 1992. Most recently, she is the Teradata Database Program Realization Team leader. The team includes a cross-Teradata organization representation and involves managing program development milestones and deployment activities delivering the Teradata Database to customer general availability. Patsy is also the PAC facilitator managing the bi-annual customer visits to the Teradata Rancho Bernardo office. Patsy also supports the PAC Enhancement Requests (ER) via the PAC web site and brings the accepted ERs into the Teradata Database concept development process.

Jeff Shelton is a senior consultant software engineer with Teradata since 1993. Beginning 2000 he has worked in Teradata primarily focused on developing tools and database features that facilitate query-plan analysis and performance tuning. Jeff is a Teradata Certified Master.

Todd is the Director of Product Management at Teradata overseeing business alignment, technical aspects of the product and services offering, product content, and investment allocation. Most recently, Todd was responsible for the overall development strategy of the Teradata R&D organization focused on emerging technologies and markets. Prior to R&D, he was a Partner in the Professional Services Group within Teradata Government Systems, managing the federal civilian practice focusing on the delivery and execution of Teradata solutions. He previously led the Platform and Systems Group within Teradata Product Management, where he was responsible for product strategy, product lifecycle management and business analysis for research and development. In the 1990s, Todd managed IT infrastructure projects in the telecommunication and energy sectors for EDS.

Chris manages Teradata’s Product and Services Marketing Organization focused on delivering a portfolio of solutions and platforms with key focus on rapid deployment and time to value of complete data warehouse solutions. Chris specializes in Data Warehousing, Decision Support, Customer Management and Appliance platforms.
